Elders Euroa livestock manager Joe Allen said the 450-head of cattle missing from the Euroa Weaner Cattle Sale yarding of 1500 included about 250-head of Euro and British-breed cattle.
He said the vendors who missed out on the Euroa sale would likely prepare their cattle for the February sale.
"The sale went really well, the steer job was similar to how other sales have opened up this year, and we're similar to how we left off in December," he said.
"There was a fair representation from the north here, it's not a huge yarding because of the rain but the [other sales] give them an opportunity to come down."
Mr Allen said the recent rain failed to cause too much damage in Euroa's immediate area.
"Locally we haven't had too much trouble, we had more than 40 millimetres of rain here, but everyone around here is going really well," he said.
"Our thoughts go out to the people down towards Yea and Seymour who are affected."
Rodwells Euroa livestock agent Ryan Carpenter said the steers lifted about 20 cents from the December sale.
He said the heifers were a "real standout" for the weaner sale.
"Your top run of feeder heifers were at about 260 cents a kilogram to 270c/kg, and the weaner heifers made between $850 to $1100 a head," he said.
"The lighter heifers, everyone made about $900, no matter the weight."
